Pets are an important part of the family and therefore you want to insure them well against unexpected events. IFAR offers both liability insurance and health insurance for your pet.
“My dog broke the neighbors new couch in his enthusiasm, am I insured for this?”
Liability insurance reimburses the damage that your pet unexpectedly causes to others. For example, if your dog knocks over an expensive vase at the neighbors out of enthusiasm, you will be held liable for this. It is nice to have good liability insurance for these types of accidents.
Due to new legislation, dog owners in Spain are required to take out liability insurance from September 29, 2023. At IFAR we can offer various products where you are insured against unexpected damage caused by your pet and also comply with the legislation in Spain.
Good to know that, in the case of dogs, a distinction is made between two different groups. The first group concerns dogs weighing less than 20kg and as a breed not on the list of 'potentially dangerous dog breeds'.
The second group contains dogs that are either heavier than 20kg or appear on the list of 'potentially dangerous dog breeds'. These following dog breeds appear on this list:
Pitbull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, Argentinian Dog, Brazilian Mastiff, Tosa Inu, Akita Inu.
In some states (for example Valencia) some other breeds have also been added, such as the Doberman and the Boxer. Click here for a Spanish news article on this topic.
You can also contact IFAR for good health insurance for pets at a competitive premium. In collaboration with renowned insurers, we even offer the option to combine this with liability insurance. This combination ensures that your pet is properly insured against both healthcare costs and unexpected damage to third parties.
